Here is Dan Meyer. He explains the problem with math education in the USA. This is why we have the new common core standards. I understand both sides of the love and the hate feelings towards the switch to new standards. But ever since I started teaching math I have hated the old standards. In my opinion they were never good. The common core standards are a step in the right direction.
Wow D’news has some good stuff about math. I don’t believe everything that is on this channel, but based on what I’ve studied, know, and experience, these math vids are spot on. This one is an explanation about why we have the new common core standards.
